Yoko Kata Guruma Otoshi

Yoko-kata-guruma-otoshi - Side Shoulder Wheel Drop

Yoko-kata-guruma-otoshi is in the new syllabus not as a technique, but in the performance section. I believe this as although it is a technique, it would VERY rarely be performed other than as a renraku-waza with kata-guruma.

As the kata guruma is attempted, throw the outside leg round the ukes leg and land on the floor, changing the direction of the arm movement sufficiently for the technique to work as shown in the above video.

In this video uke is given the opportunity to breakfall properly - obviously in shiai the hold would be much tighter and positon after the throw closer.
