O-uchi-gari - Major Inner Reaping
O-uchi-gari is another of the techniques that can be shown in two different ways - and another that opinion in the best way is split straight down the middle. 1. (As above in the video) - Balance. (Right Handed) With a normal grip, the throwers right leg is placed in between the partners legs, hooking and lifting their left leg. The partners weight is then transferred with the throwers hands to where the now absent leg is, as the arms of the throw move in a clockwise direction and down until the throw is executed. 2. Force. With the same grip as above, the throws right leg is placed in between the partners legs and behind their left leg - but this time stays on the floor. Then, as the throwers right leg is drawn back, the arms and right shoulder of the attacker force the partner backwards and down. This version usually results with the thrower on their knees between the partners legs - so it is important for the thrower to keep their right side down. |
