Tsu-Mo-Kie Open, Epping
Sunday 3rd March 2007
God, I was exhausted from the competition on Sunday!
I was up against a girl from the BJA cadets to begin with so I was thinking "GREAT!" (luckily there was only one of them)! I actually did OK against her, but lost by an arm lock (which was on my broken wrist so didn’t even chance it!).
I then fought Kirsty (who I think was either an orange or green belt) and I threw her with harai-maki-komi (but with trying to do a throw on her during the fight I did manage to wind myself and hurt my ribs... but once I had my breathing back I got up and fought - whilst laughing!).
Then was a girl called Rebecca, and she was a green belt. I also threw her in harai-maki-komi, but held her down a few times throughout the bout.
Finally for the pool was Tara (Who I have lost against the last few occasions I have fought her – at the Ladies Open and at the Falcons Open). I was doing OK against her to start with, and she got her first koka – which I replied with a koka for myself. I then got another koka when I threw her in a kind of te-garuma. In the end I won by a yuko (5 points).
Then I had to fight Sarah who was the blue belt (she was the one that throws in uchi-mata all the time). She countered me for two waza-ari's and therefore won. I did get some points during the contest though.
I gave a rather large woman a little fight and so she got gold as she only fought me and Sarah. Neither Sarah nor I was awarded any medals for this impromptu open though, which was a bit of a shame, but at least I kept hold of my silver!
